We are glad to have interviewed Mr.Shaudhan Desai, the CEO of Dsoft Infotech. We asked him about his success mantra, how his company dealt with the pandemic and the post-pandemic scenario, the idea behind Dsoft Infotech, his ideological principles, the company’s future, and his advice to young entrepreneurs.

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Shaudhan Desai. What is your success mantra? Something you have followed personally that has helped you in your journey.

Always give more than what you take! Personally or professionally, when one is willing to deliver more value compared to whatever the gains are, nobody can stop that individual or company from growing.

Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create Dsoft Infotech. Tell us about your journey so far.

Our journey started from the drawing room of my own house with one PC and a printer almost 34 years back. After working for four years in an MNC, I wanted to try my entrepreneurial spirit and since there was hardly any computerization in Rajkot (Gujarat) in those days. I thought, let me work on something which has a bright future and something that is possible with minimum investment!

After spending initial years in data processing and custom software development, we thought we must focus on product software looking at the scalability of the same. To ensure that costs of branding are lower, we decided to focus on the niche market of Jewellery Business Management. 

There was a reason to choose the field of Jewellery Business Management also. Jewellery is the only business where owners and family members are required to continuously monitor all activities in person due to the very high cost of products and, thus, higher risk of losses. So, we thought that if we could create a set of systems and processes with the fusion of technology, by which we can set the owners free from daily personal monitoring, we could generate a huge opportunity for them to grow their business by creating a multi-store chain or diversification.

After investing almost 25 years in the development, I am happy to say that we have successfully helped more than 5000 jewellers across India as well as overseas in growing their business multifold with the use of our software backed by a rock-solid management system.

How has Dsoft Infotech equipped itself to deal with the Covid-19 situation better?

Internally we have taken measures like flexibility for the team regarding WFH / WFO, regular checkups of all entering our premises, more emphasis on virtual meetings, and all team members are very vigilant about safety and health (even if a family member is down with Covid-19, staff works from home for next 7 to 15 days) etc.

We have also developed some modules in our products by which our clients can also deal with Covid-19 situations effectively, like creating virtual stores from the same inventory, creating infrastructure for contactless ordering & delivery from suppliers etc.

Which features are most valuable in Dsoft Infotech?

ORNATE is not only a software but a complete business management system for Jewellers using which – they can put their business in autopilot mode and still grow. Thus, we are not just software providers but also strategic partners for our clients who are always looking forward to their growth.

What updates and advancements are being made at Dsoft Infotech to help your clients navigate the new normal?

The world is moving towards a combination of both online and offline (touch & feel experience) for the consumers of Jewellery. Thus, in order to ensure that ORNATE users can also provide the same experience to their respective consumers, we facilitate them with all the necessary features which would help them in providing a world-class experience to their customers apart from making their back office management more and more efficient and profitable with the use of advanced data analytics features.

Where do you see Dsoft Infotech to greater heights in the next 5 years?

We are in the business of growing the businesses of Jewellers. Thus, obviously, we would like to focus on how with the use of systems and data (analytics), we can help our clients grow their sales and profitability – which is the ultimate motive of any entrepreneur. We already have a user base across all states of the country, but our focus will be on increasing our user base in Tier III & Tier IV cities – where the possibilities of growth are higher. Apart from that, our international sales division will be focusing on increasing the user base in the USA, UK, Middle East and Africa from whatever current user base we have in those places.

Are there any ideological principles that your organization follows to maintain the brand value?

Yes. Simple.

[1] Deliver higher values compared to what is charged from the client;

[2] No questions asked – money-back guarantee if the client is not happy with the product/services.

[3] If there is a difference in opinion between our team member and client, we believe that client is always right; we may need to understand his point of view; and

[4] All our team members should regularly grow financially as well as intellectually.

What is your advice to young entrepreneurs?

Always think of building a product that can be offered on the SaaS model. This not only helps financially but also keeps you on your toes as far as new product development or support systems are concerned. You will learn the most critical aspect of brand building, how important it is to retain your client, only when you come to know that client has not renewed your subscription and you ensure that he pays the same by improving your deliverables.
