Any organization looking at sustainable long-term growth needs to have a goal-setting methodology that allows them to set and track measurable goals. OKRs are among the most effective methodologies that assist organizations in their growth, however, only a few firms know how to successfully use and implement them to their advantage.

Thankfully, companies like FitBots have come to the rescue of such organizations by providing them with customized ORK software, certification and coaching assistance.

Fitbots has made quite a name for itself globally by helping over 1500 companies with their software and coaching solutions. Its ORK Certifications have also been used by leading brands such as Nokia, Cred, and Tata Elxsi.

SoftwareSuggest is fortunate to have interviewed Mr. Kashi KS, the CTO of Fitbots to know more about the company’s mission, vision, and journey towards success.

In Conversation with Mr. Kashi, the CTO and Co-Founder of Fitbots

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Kashi. We would first like to ask you what is your success mantra? Something you have followed personally that has helped you in your journey

Team Fitbots OKRs has one success mantra, we remind ourselves constantly that change is constant & we need to disrupt ourselves every day. Our mission is to simplify “Future of Work” & strategy execution with OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).

This mission keeps us honest, to listen to our customers & strive to serve them to solve problems in executing strategy in hybrid workplaces. My team’s success is my success.

How has Fitbots equipped itself to deal with the Covid-19 situation better?

COVID forced us to transform in ways like never before. We were very young as an organization when COVID stormed the world; we witnessed our customers’ need to pivot and this required a framework to align next-level teams to strategic priorities rather than business as usual ones. That’s where we found an increase in OKRs adoption.

As a team, we noticed that many companies were new to OKRs, and also there was an inconsistency in the understanding of what Objectives and Key Results are and are not. We looked at this as an opportunity, got into the ring as OKR coaches, and coached over 600 teams.

This experience gave us unique insights which have shaped our product & services differently for our competition. We are proud to say our experience in solving hybrid workplace problems sets us apart from the rest of the crowd.

Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create Fitbots? Tell us about your journey so far.

Our journey has been simple yet interesting. Vidya, my co-founder & CEO met me at a coffee shop seeding the future of Fitbots while we’re doodling with ideas. Fitbots was something in my mind for years before, together we shaped the abstract concepts in products & services.

Having been consultants & working closely with business leaders we realized a huge gap between strategy formulation & on-ground execution, we knew this required a new approach. Vidya & I got certified as OKR coaches learned from being in the trenches and designed the product around solving real-world challenges.

The fun was that the problem got tougher, it had to be further re-imagined due to COVID & hybrid modes of working becoming a mainstay, which eventually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Fitbots OKRs.

Which features are most valuable in Fitbots?

We conducted an Annual study on OKRs and published our 2021 report.   Interestingly, only 13% of companies have been using OKRs for 3 years or more and about 37% have been using OKRs for 1-3 years. This gives a massive opportunity to enable teams in getting it right, as 90% of CEOs want to implement OKRs with a focus on high-value strategic goals.

All features in Fitbots are problem-focused. We help organizations visualize strategy execution with our alignment boards. Leaders are able better understand execution risks & challenges in one click with our “KRs at Risk Option”.

If teams are new to OKRs, we have over 100+ OKR templates with a writing assistant, to help craft high-quality ones.

Using our Insights dashboards, which are heatmaps, Team members are better able to prioritize decisions & actions by understanding how they can influence companies’ strategic goals.

It’s also encouraging to see many HR leaders re-imagine performance practices with a focus on company impact than individual progressions.

To summarize we simplify strategy management experience with OKR software & the ecosystem of OKR coaches.

What updates and advancements are being made at Fitbots to help your clients navigate in the new normal?

As we know, hybrid workplaces have 3 imperatives:

  • Asynchronous, yet real-time conversations
  • Focus on outcomes over tasks
  • Distributed accountability & transparent execution.

This implies everything from check-ins meetings (a must-have OKR ritual), conversations, feedback, and recognitions to achievements need to be reimagined.

We have just done that. We bring transparency through our OKR software, inviting teams to participate, flag wins / setbacks & drive impact by visualizing their work & contributing to team OKRs.

For instance, a Key Result of a team can be connected and aligned to a Key Result of a Company, hence seeing a visual movement of the needle.

Where do you see Fitbots to greater heights in the next 5 years?

Just to go back to our mission: Simplify Future of Work and strategy execution.

In 5 years, Fitbots OKRs will be the partner of choice for powering workplaces with decision-driven insights.  Using our nudge engine, teams would be better able to predict as well as solve ‘How to achieve’ OKRs.   For CXOs, this would bubble up to real-time insights which can be directly fed into Dashboards & Board Reviews.

Workplaces & working models that are fast-changing, we see our offerings & services integrated into workflows of the future of work.

Are there any ideological principles that your organization follows to maintain the brand value?

Many SaaS companies invest early in Sales and Marketing.  We invested very early in strengthening our Customer success to keep up the promise we make to our valued customers.

For instance, we have certified OKR coaches who also manage Customer Success, as it is important to coach teams on getting OKRs right, along with the platform.

To certify Champions, we have a 16-hour certification program, which is very valuable as it helps get OKRs right and make the best of the OKR software adoption.

Hence we offer more than just OKR software, we offer the execution ecosystem of coaches, consultants & certifications to get it right.

What is your advice to young entrepreneurs?

I would like to borrow a quote from Art of war by Sun Tzu –

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat”.

There is no doubt “Execution is everything …..Strategy execution is an awesome thing”.  Chase your dreams and may the force be with you.
