Automation has touched every aspect of business today, modernizing transactions, improving oversight, and simplifying operations by a great margin. However, in the Indian subcontinent, automation is mostly limited to operations of large manufacturing corporations and IT-related industries.

Thus most niche industries fail to find automation service providers that can offer end-to-end business solutions catered to their industries. Thankfully, automation enablers like Synergics Solutions come to the rescue of such niche industries and offer customized automation solutions to them.

Synergics Solutions has made quite a name for itself due to its jewelry manufacturing and retail ERP suite and has also created personalized solutions for rice manufacturing and retail of precious stones over the years.

We are fortunate to have interviewed Mr. Vivek Das, the founder of Synergics Solutions, and know about his and his firm’s journey this far.

In Conversation with Mr. Vivek Das, Founder of Synergics Solutions

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Vivek. Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create Synergics Solutions? Tell us about your journey so far.

In the year 2005, India was perceived as a country with good technical brains but the skill sets were being utilized in the IT services. Synergics was formed with a Product-oriented business in mind. There was and still is a gap between the available service providers and the demand to automate SMEs.

Our domain knowledge has helped us capture the big and small business automation in the Jewellery vertical. The journey was never easy, in fact, full of challenges, and rightfully so as it aligns to the age-old fact “ Change is the only constant “.

What is your success mantra? Something you have followed personally that has helped you in your journey.

There is no singular success mantra that I feel can be pointed out. I would like to share a few pointers which have kept me going.  There is an excellent book by Jeff Bezos ” Invent and Wander “, there are a lot of takeaways and learnings & It has been quite insightful

One needs to continuously try and reinvent so that we have something new to offer, improve on our earlier offerings and bring value to the table. Another favorite is a book gifted by my father which has always inspired me  ” Leadership Wisdom”. At this juncture also the hunger to learn and evolve has landed me in the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology for their Technology Leadership Program.

How has Synergics Solutions equipped itself to deal with the Covid-19 situation better?

Synergics has been a client-obsessed organization. Feedback from Clients and the ever-changing needs/ demands from the business have kept in the business for more than a decade. Fortunately for us, we did move to cloud way back and so did the majority of our clients.

In fact, the Covid-19 situation was a good opportunity to further move on to the best in the world i.e. AWS. My interview with CNBC gives good insight on the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jAIQwwceiI

Synergics has utilized this time to venture into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to take automation further and would be the first in the industry to offer AI ML-based services in this domain.

Our ERP ( S.E.A ) has been ahead of time for this vertical as it was one of the first ERP on cloud for the Jewellery Industry. Today the biggest Jewellery E-tailer Caratlane runs its entire Physical and Digital supply chain on our ERP.

Any interesting changes in Synergics Solutions numbers/ stats that you would like to share between Pre-pandemic and now?

There are multiple ways to look at the numbers. Let’s make it interesting as the Pandemic is still not over.

We didn’t have a single downtime in the past year on the infra side.

In April 2020 when everything was down, we were awarded a contract by Aurex, a company based out of Zimbabwe where even the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has stakes.

During the first wave and even now we have seen an increase in demand to get automated as it opens the doors to go digital.

A huge establishment like Aurex could go LIVE with just one visit of 4 days from our deployment team. The automation cycle of buying, implementing, and being supported on an ERP has completely gone remote for smaller organizations too. This is a big leap towards automation.

What updates and advancements are being made at Synergics Solutions to help your clients navigate in the new normal?

Synergics has come out with an excellent Platinum support system to ensure that the current clientele is supported within a time-bound manner. This support system is cloud-based and thus is never restrictive on the physical location of the support executive.

We have built tools to ensure that the physical B2B sales meetings which were not happening do not become a deterrent for business. We have introduced tools in the retail front to ensure that the consumers are offered more personalized service and Retailers are armed with better data. These steps have been contributed by improving Sales and efficiency of our clients.

What is your vision and plan for taking Synergics Solutions to greater heights in the next 5 years?

Synergics is synonymous with complete automation in the Jewellery industry when it comes to India. We want to achieve the same globally. The right value addition to our clients would be to make them more efficient. This industry deals with an SKU/ Raw material which is high on cost.

We plan to have build intelligence in the ERP which can help optimize the inventory levels for Manufacturing and Retail thus making some portion of their capital free in this capital-intensive business. Technology should be used to drive a business by not looking at the mirror but looking ahead in terms of right forecasting.

What motivates and strengthens you to keep up with the competition?

Synergics is in competition with no one. We compete by breaking our own barriers. It is well observed that the moment one compares to a competition and the competition stagnates then your own growth stagnates as you are competing to a stagnated entity.

At Synergics the feedback from our customers or critics has always helped us to pull up our socks as we see it as an opportunity the moment we offer the clients what we couldn’t earlier.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs starting out in this field?

There are no shortcuts. I would like to reiterate that Entrepreneurship is not for people who perceive it to be a quick cash-out option. One should get into it if you are really passionate about solving a problem.

Be open to evolving and improving your idea without being in love with your first idea. The first idea, first product, and your first execution are never going to be perfect.
