Libreoffice is by far most popular and one of the best supported software document suite for writing, designing and publishing. It's opensource, free, configurable, greatly looking and already goes pre-installed in most Linux distributions.

Cons

Size of the libreoffice should be adjusted. Speed might also be improved.
