This is an excellent addition to any toolkit with MySQL or MariaDB. It makes performance tuning and many other DBA or DB Developer tasks incredibly easy and visual. This is my go-to tool whenever I need to work with the database.

Originally, I think we purchased this tool several years ago for its visual database comparisons. I think one of the most helpful features lately for me has been the performance tuning tools.

This is minor, but it seems like more and more tools are coming out with a dark mode. dbForge is still missing that, so I stare at a mostly white screen the whole time I work with it.

dbForge Studio for MySQL is a joy to work with. I have used it for over five years to manage several MySQL databases. I have maintained and updated tables, indexes, and relationships; written views and numerous SQL queries; and imported and exported data. The elegant user interface of this product has made all of these tasks easier. Whether it's color coding and autocomplete in SQL, the multitude of options in the import and export windows, the clear presentation of table definitions, or the tear-off windows allowing you to leverage a second monitor, the user interface works to let you perform your tasks smoothly and effectively. Even when you reach for more obscure features, like when I needed to connect through a secure tunnel, the option was in the connections dialog. I have yet to encounter functionality that this software did not perform admirably. It is head and shoulders above other data management software I have used.

The fluency of the user interface is its best feature. Other data management tools may allow you to perform most of the functions, but the little touches like color-coding, autocomplete, tear-off windows, and a multitude of import/export options let you perform tasks with clarity and speed.

I would like to see this level of software craftsmanship made available for other databases. For example, whenever I need to switch from MySQL to DB2 for i, there is no software available that performs at the level of dbForge.

It would be nice if the document find feature allowed you to search just one column of data rather than the whole table. This would speed up searches when manually digging through a table.

A quick glance at IBM Data Studio will show you software that looks and feels like it is twenty years old. Yes, it can perform the necessary tasks, but awkwardly. In that same time period, dbForge has modernized and taken advantage of the new user interface features made available by .NET development. It is an example of what modern Windows software can look like.

Software 'dbForge Studio for MySQL' is a complete solution for managing 'MySQL Server' (fully supports version 8.0) and creating databases. It has excellent support for refactoring databases. The well-designed database diagram includes the 'Layout Diagram' option for reorganizing the layout of tables for better visibility. The diagram can be exported as a picture in various formats (BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIF, and EMF). The diagram window has options (accessible via right-click) to achieve the desired appearance of the chart. The program contains an 'SQL Editor' for writing and executing SQL commands, a visual query builder, a wizard for executing scripts from files for large scripts, a query profiler, and a debugger for stored procedures. The Enterprise version of the software can generate database documentation if necessary. The documentation can be saved in HTML, PDF, and Markdown file formats and includes comments on all tables and columns. This software also supports the 'MariaDB server' (https://mariadb.org/).
