Some Good Features & GROSSLY OVERPRICED
Meetup organizer fees are sky-high. Members should pay a monthly fee to offset the organizers' responsibility. I am looking for other options.

Event scheduling and sign-up process.
What do you dislike about Meetup?
The annual organizer fee is $240 (10/2022). That is OUTRAGEOUS.
What features is Meetup currently missing?
There's no ability to send communication via mobile app to those who are signed up for an event. You have to log into the website. No texting. Emails tend to go to spam no matter what you do.

It has the event infrastructure in place and the name recognition.

Unique features but EXPENSIVE
This company has been around since 2002, and we all know the pressure on companies to increase profits. Unfortunately, they cannot expand their market to do that. Witness the disaster of the WeWork merger! The result is that the cost of running a group has increased. £200 per year (GBP) is excessive for a reasonably simple web platform, one almost matched by Facebook, which offers nearly the same for free.

Everything needed to put on face to face meetings is present. Facebook doesn't allow payment or messaging in the same way

Money grabbing if you're an organizer
This is an excellent resource if you're using it to find groups to participate in. However, if you're an organizer, it has become problematic. They have changed the limits so that you can only organize up to three groups. That was not the case before. Now, if you want to organize more than three groups, you must pay for Meetup PRO, which costs $30 per group per month! That seems like nothing but a rip-off to me. They say it's to give people access to tools and APIs, email list possibilities, and other business tools. But I use it as a very extroverted person who likes meeting new people. That price seems like a big rip-off to me when you're already paying $100 per year.

Its a money grab if youre an organizer. Theyve decided to start charging you to use their platform by changing the terms of service and what is available at what price.
