Great software at a great price.
I found their software to be very user friendly and easy to get started with. Of course, there are occasional problems, but their tech support is very responsive. I have been with them for three years, and their platform continues to improve each year. I don't care too much for their client portal and tax organizer, but I have another forum I use for those services, so it's not a big deal for me.

This web-based product is not worth it for any reputable accounting firm. We were transitioning from another provider, and we found a bunch of issues that didn't quite make our transition justifiable. First, it took 2 weeks to migrate clients and returns from the previous tax year (about 250). TWO WEEKS!! Of those returns imported, many returned incorrect errors such as missing social security numbers, emails, etc. Now, that's not possible since we can't process a return without a social and we collect email addresses from every client. None of the business clients were imported. No carry-overs were imported. You can't create a new client without adding a form 1040 (so, if you only need to create a Form 2848, or a 2553, etc., you cannot open only that form. You'll need to have a form 1040). I had a lengthy conversation with a manager to whom I reported all the issues encountered. There were more issues than the ones mentioned above. These are too many adjustments needed to be made even before starting the preparation. Then, with no carry-over imports, we would have to check every return from last year to determine if the client is carrying over anything and make sure that our employees are aware of that possibility. Again, a lot of time and resources before we get to the preparation. So, we don't recommend this product. Another issue was that they have a 14-day refund policy. Since the client import took 2 weeks, we basically were outside of the 14-day policy to get a refund. This was after we discussed the issues with a manager agreed that they would have held our license for 2021 and 2022 (without refund) but only IF they were able to make the changes discussed. So, MyTaxPrepOffice, that's what I agreed on, in my conversation contrary to what you stated in your last e-mail. So, I am lying, that's what they implied in their last e-mail. Of course. Any person with a brain would understand that the only other option on the table would have been a refund. Once they realized that they couldn't make any of the changes discussed, they still wanted to hold the license for 2021 and 2022 and not give the refund. That was not our agreement. We will not do any business with this company now or in the future because of their software limitation and because of their worthless words. So, this company didn't want to make it right. I would have understood this decision if we were in the middle of tax season or even after preparing the first few returns, at which time, we would have properly tested their system. Not happy with it? Oh, well, too late. But we are not even remotely close to dive into it, so, this time was just a "relaxed" time to test it out. They don't give a shit about current or prospective clients. After all, it's not about morals and it is not about doing the right thing, here. It's about the almighty $795 price tag to lose current or prospective clients, right? Well, at least, that $795 made it into their Income Statement! I should post that transaction on my books as a Charitable Contribution! Who knows how many Charitable Contributions they get every year, this way? There's just so much to say and so little time and I am done hoping for them to stop throwing fine prints and do what's right. So, I would advise against even trying out MyTaxPrepOffice as it is a waste of time. Now, after the conversation I had with Maurice and the last couple of e-mails I received, I wouldn't even use their software if it was given for free for life!
