In Conversation with Mr. Bogdan Toshev, General Sales Manager at HostArmada

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Bogdan. Our readers are keen to know what prompted you to create HostArmada? Tell us about your journey so far.

Hello! Thank you for having me. I appreciate the chance to share more about HostArmada with a reputable brand like Software Suggest. HostArmada was created by a team of professionals with at least five years of experience in the hosting industry. The decision to have this company made is mainly related to the customers’ dissatisfaction with the hosting issues of big companies in general.

While working at other web hosting companies, our staff has noticed many practices that we did not agree with back then, which remains the same even today. Therefore, the decision was made to deliver a polished solution that all users will be able to enjoy, not at the expense of their website’s performance, while the company is “squeezing” the servers so a higher profit margin can be achieved. This is how the idea of HostArmada emerged, and it materialized in November 2019.

What is your success mantra? Something you have followed personally that has helped you in your journey.

I probably partly covered the answer to this question earlier, so please excuse me if I repeat myself. Our success mantra is quite simple – “The customer is the king.” If I’m to credit our success to anything, it would be that our service is solely based on what the customer requires as service, what the customer is looking for, and what problems we can solve.

Our firm belief is that as long as our service is a real solution to the customers’ issues and is providing them what they mostly look for – speed, security, and stability, we cannot go wrong. I can confidently say that it has been working great for us so far, which could easily be seen in our reviews on the web.

Can we get a sneak peek at the work culture at HostArmada?

I’m not sure if I should be the one answering this question as a GM. It will likely be our staff that will provide you with the most definitive answer. We strive to give every team member to work in an environment of their own choice, whether in the office or from home.

We are pretty flexible with that, and we think that remote work is here to stay. We hold constant evaluation meetings to improve the knowledge of our teammates and provide them with the opportunity to expand their knowledge so they can serve our customers better. We evaluate the performance solely based on meritocracy.

What matters the most at HostArmada is the ability of each member to provide customer satisfaction and take responsibility for their actions. We are employing meritocracy – everyone is rewarded based on their contribution, regardless of gender, race, age, etc. At the end of the day, if the job is done well and the customer is happy, we consider that a success.

How has Covid-19 impacted your business, and what is your strategy moving forward in the new normal?

We are lucky that we were not impacted badly during the pandemic, as it has accelerated the tech industry as a whole. Many businesses have moved online and started experiencing the benefit of being able to reach a larger audience, compared to only relying on a local store. I’m pretty sure that this is here to stay as more and more are quite appreciative of grabbing this opportunity and utilizing it in the best interest of their business.

I completely understand that this doesn’t apply to all businesses, and I think it is quite unfortunate for many people to be losing jobs. We had customers that had to go through this, and we tried to be as supportive as we could. The feedback was quite positive; however, I would like to express my hopes of everything going back to normal as soon as possible, so people can start enjoying life normally as it was before.

Tell us about the biggest learning you have gained from your journey so far.

One of the most important things I learned is that in order to deliver a solution that will satisfy the high demand of customers in the very competitive industry that is web hosting, is that to achieve your goals; you need to have good team cohesion, appreciate and coordinate the efforts of your the team members so you can deliver fast, VERY FAST.

If a company is not innovative enough, it quickly falls behind others. Just having the thought that a competitor will be able to satisfy a customer more than what we could do is something that I am not fond of. We strive to deliver the best out there before everyone else, so our customers can enjoy the best possible service respectively.

In my experience with web hosting providers, I was able to see a lot of them fall out of grace because they stopped pushing forward. It is like a constant marathon in the tech industry – if you stop to take a breath, you fall behind, and climbing back to the top is nearly an impossible task.

Where do you see HostArmada in the next 5 years? How do you strategize for the same?

With all the new features that we plan to implement in the coming years, I hope that we will be able to compete with the companies on the market for more than 15 years on the same level. I cannot say if five years is a short period of time, but I can guarantee that we will not be holding back at all.

What motivates and strengthens you to keep up with the competition?

A single “Thank you, your service is great!” is more than enough motivation to keep coming back every day and giving it my best shot.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs starting out in this field?

If anyone decides to take this road, they need to know that it is quite bumpy, definitely not easy. What they might have planned at the start may quickly turn out to be not what they would have expected.

Therefore, one must be very flexible and adaptive, quick to react, and deliver in a timely manner. The customers are not only paying a company with their hard-earned money but also with their trust. This is something, which must not be jeopardized, and companies should strive not to disappoint or set wrong expectations, which is quite common nowadays.

As long as the product or service you are offering is strictly built with what the customer wants in mind, then success will definitely come sooner or later.
